What Does the Ziip Dot Do?
The Ziip Dot works to clear and calm breakouts and redness, fast. Interestingly enough, it's the world's first microcurrent spot device and the small size is ideal for targeting specific areas of the skin.
You're probably wondering, how does this tool actually work? It uses microcurrent to reduce inflammation and swelling, while nanocurrent™ works to mimic your body's natural electrical currents to help encourage skin cell renewal and repair, in turn helping your breakouts to heal. While both microcurrent and nanocurrent™ use low-level electrical currents, microcurrent is more intense, which is why it's often used for lifting and sculpting, whereas nanocurrent™ is slightly softer as its working to mimic the body.
How Do You Use The Ziip Dot?
So, how do you use this tool? I thought it would be a faff, but it's surprisingly simple. First, apply two to three pumps of the conductive gel to the area of the skin that you wish to treat. This is really important as not only does this gel protect the skin, but it also enables the waveforms to pass from your device through the skin, too.
Next, press the power button and your device will light up and beep to indicate that it is ready. Apply the tool to the area of skin that you wish to treat and move it back and forth while ensuring that it stays in contact with the skin the whole time. You may feel a slight tingling sensation, but this is normal.
After a minute, the tool will switch from "treat" mode to "calm" mode. You will know when this happens as it will feel as if it has slowed down slightly. This final mode is designed to soothe the skin before finishing the treatment.
My Review of the Ziip Dot
Before and After Using the Ziip DotI recently had a hormonal breakout on my chin, and although most of it had cleared up, a few blemishes were hanging around that I was desperate to get rid of. I will admit that I might not be the best candidate for this tool, as, apart from the odd hormonal breakout, I am fortunate to have quite clear skin, but I still wanted to see if it would help speed up the healing process.
What I love about this brand is how easy it is to use Ziip skincare tools. I've often been put off from using these kinds of things in my routine as I hate adding complicated and unnecessary steps, but this device in particular felt simple to slot into my morning or evening, depending on when I wanted to use it.
Another thing I enjoy is just how compact this tool is. You could easily take it on holiday with you, thanks to its smaller size, and it's also super easy to store in your bathroom or dressing table.
It did feel a little weird to use a microcurrent device on a blemish (the tingling sensation can take a bit of getting used to), but overall I enjoyed the entire experience. Although you might not be able to see a visible difference in the pictures above, I felt it. After a few days of testing, my breakouts already seemed smaller and less painful, and they cleared up much faster than they would if I were to just leave them alone. That being said, I didn't feel like this tool helped with post-blemish scarring, as I still noticed a bit of redness and inflammation hanging around after using this for a few days. Don't get me wrong, this tool is great for calming breakouts, but I wouldn't expect it to get rid of the blemishes altogether. However, I'm excited to continue testing this to see if it will make a bigger difference when used over a longer period.
Now, there's no denying how expensive this product is, and you might be asking, is it worth the cost? While it might not be worth the investment if you only get the occasional spot here and there, it is a great tool to have if you get regular breakouts and want something that will help to heal them quicker.

How We Tested the Ziip Dot
As mentioned above, I tested this tool after experiencing a hormonal breakout. I used it every day for just under a week, following the instructions that came with the device. I used it in the evenings after cleansing, as I often take a little bit more time to do my evening skincare routine.
